About the Program:
Ready to launch your career in mining? Whitehaven is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our 2027 Graduate Program. Designed to develop the next generation of industry professionals and future leaders, this two-year program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a leading Australian resources company.
Through a combination of practical on-the-job learning, structured development activities and mentoring from experienced site hosts, you'll build the technical and professional skills needed to succeed. You'll participate in a rotation program, providing exposure to a variety of operational environments, helping you develop a broad understanding of our business and the role you play in its success.
Rotations are based across our operations in the Gunnedah and Narrabri regions of New South Wales, Blackwater and Moranbah in Queensland, and our corporate offices in Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane.
What You'll Do:
As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you'll gain practical experience across mining operations, maintenance and site improvement projects while developing your technical capability alongside experienced industry professionals.
• Assist with electrical engineering projects, including fault studies, equipment sizing and technical work packs.
• Create and manage maintenance work orders and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in the review and update of electrical standards, procedures and documentation.
• Support the introduction of new electrical equipment and ensure compliance with site standards.
• Participate in Critical Control Monitoring to verify key electrical risk controls.
• Conduct safety interactions and promote safe work practices across site.
What You'll Bring:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, with a preference for Power Systems majors and exposure to protection, earthing and power system studies.
• A genuine interest in the mining industry.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.
