At Our Family Respite (OFR), we do disability respite differently.
We're a family-run, NDIS-registered provider that matches children, teenagers and adults living with disability with carefully selected respite carers who can provide a safe, welcoming home away from home.
Our model is built on relationships, not rosters.
We're growing rapidly across NSW and are looking for compassionate individuals, couples and families who would love to open their home and make a real difference in someone's life.
What Does the Role Involve?
As a Disability Respite Host Carer, you'll welcome participants into your home for short stays, weekend respite, school holiday programs and community-based experiences.
Some participants may simply enjoy movies, baking, gaming, swimming, trips to the park or hanging out with your family. Others may enjoy outings, adventures and trying new things.
The role is less about "caregiving" and more about being a supportive host, mentor and positive role model.
Most importantly, you'll be giving families a much-needed break while creating meaningful experiences for participants.

Essential Requirements
You MUST have:
🏡 A spare bedroom available in your home for participants
🚗 A current driver's licence and reliable vehicle
❤️ Experience supporting people with disability, mental health, community services, education, youth work, allied health or similar fields
🧠 Patience, empathy and a great sense of humour
📱 Basic technology skills
✅ NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
✅ First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
Important Household Requirements
Because participants will be spending time in your home, we assess the entire household during the recruitment process.
This means:
⭐ Every adult (18+) living in the home must be willing to participate in the screening process
⭐ Every adult (18+) living in the home must obtain a Police Check
⭐ Every adult (18+) living in the home must obtain a Working With Children Check (WWCC)
⭐ Every adult (18+) living in the home will be interviewed as part of our approval process
⭐ The home must be safe, welcoming and suitable for respite stays
This isn't because we like paperwork (trust us, we don't 😅). It's because the safety of our participants is always our highest priority.
